Can I use any type of soap to clean my solar panels?

Should you use just any soap to clean your solar panels?
I wouldn’t recommend it. At Heliotex, we have a concentrated detergent soap that is specifically designed to be effective, not damage the solar panel or frame and not to damage the environment. Heliotex Automatic Solar Panel Cleaning Solution is biodegradable, even over time. This last part is very important, as many products are okay to use once but used over time can be create a toxic buildup.

Our soap product is also certified to comply with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Designed for Environment list of approved chemicals.

One if the most vulnerable parts of a solar panel is the anodized aluminum frame. There is a very narrow pH window for products so as to not damage the frame. The pH of Heliotex Automatic Solar Panel Cleaning Solution complies with that narrow acceptable range.

Heliotex Automatic Solar Panel cleaning solution is a concentrate. It has a detergent effect that will loosen dirt and debris and allow it to be washed off with a rinse cycle. Our concentrate is a “free rinsing” product which means that it contains no color and no odor. If you use a product that has either an odor added or a color added, it will leave a film. Our soap product will not leave a film which may buildup. Soap products are formulated for specific uses. Our soap product is designed specifically to clean solar panels.

Our soap concentrate is available in five gallon buckets, 55 gallon drums and 275 gallon totes. For overseas sites, we can also formulate the product in a super concentrate which is ten times more concentrated. The product is then diluted at the receiving location with clean soft water (either R.O., softened, distilled or deionized water). The super concentrate can save on shipping costs for overseas locations.
